Ingredients for 4 people
- 300g plain flour
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 125g unsalted butter, softened
- 100g light brown sugar
- 1 medium egg
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tbsp De Nigris Apple Cider Vinegar
For the recipe
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenlydistributed.
3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the egg, golden syrup, and De Nigris Apple Cider Vinegar to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring continuously until a soft dough forms. You may need to use your hands tobring the dough together.
6. Once the dough is formed, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 5mm (1/4 inch).
7. Using gingerbread men cookie cutters, cut out shapes from the dough and place them onto the prepared baking tray. Repeat this process with the remaining dough.
8. Bake the gingerbread men in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Keep an eye on them, as baking timesmay vary depending on your oven.
9. Once baked, remove the tray from the oven and allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the tray before transferring them to awire rack to cool completely.
10. Decorate your gingerbread men with ready-made icing and sweets.
